Custom Start Icon/Battery/Speaker and EV 1X Icons

Decided to consolidate all the information in one thread on how to change your start menu icon/speaker/battery and Black EV and 1X icons.

Speaker and Battery Icon
1. First install the sdkcerts.cab found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2791165&postcount=1
2. Install Taskbar%20Icons%20v2.cab from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=243
3. Install darklord battery metre v2_fixed.cab from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=324
4. To have your battery meter give you actual % such as 33% instead of in increments of 10 install nuePowerDriverCDMADiamond-100-v1.0-cab.cab

5. To fix the battery % either use a registry editor and change the settings as posted below or install the file from here (no need to do both) http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=512028&postcount=18 (updated 11/11/08 )
6. To fix the HTC Volume Control download the link from here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=512254&postcount=39(Thanks opuscroakus) Open TC and go into /windows rename the HTCVolumeControl.dll to HTCVolumeControl.dll.bak use TC to place the new .dll file into /windows and soft reset. After this you can delete the .bak one. (updated 11/11/08 )

**If you just want the battery meter then download the phcanOverbmp.zip open TC and rename your current one in /windows to phcanOverbmp.dll.bak, change your registry to make it working correctly (see below for settings) once you have done this, drop the new phcanOverbmp.dll you downloaded into /Windows and and softreset. After this you can delete the old .bak one**

Make sure your registry says the following:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\security\ResOver\Bitmaps]
"BatteryIconLevels"=dword:65 (Hex) or 101 (Dec)
"BatteryIconIdStart"=dword:3e9 (Hex) or 1001 (Dec)
"BaseDll"="phcanOverbmp.dll"
"BaseId"=dword:0 updated 11/12/08


For Black EV and 1X Icons
1. For the Black EV and 1X Icons download http://www.filefactory.com/file/ca2339/n/tapres_192_dll use TC to change your old tapres.192.dll to tapres.192.dll.bak then using TC place the downloaded copy into /windows, next soft reset and you can go back in and delete the .bak one




For the Custom Start Menu Icon (If you don't want the HTC Start Icon that comes with Taskbar%20Icons%20v2.cab )
1. Install Icone Demarrer.cab found herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426264
2. The icon I have is found herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2753669&postcount=203 (read post #2 in this link for other custom start icons)
3. You will have to rename whatever one you download from shellres.192.dll.0409.mui to shellres.192.dll , after this open TC and go into /windows rename the current shellres.192.dll to shellres.192.dll .bak or .old then place the one you downloaded and renamed into the /windows and soft reset. Once you have done this then you can go back in and delete the .bak one.


For the Bluetooth Icon
1. i nstalled a taskbar cab chnged all my icons and they lookin real nice but the problem im having is u will see my battery actually go down 100% 99 98 97 96 etc now what i wanted to ask do i delete this shellres.dll.0409.mui since i already have a shellres.is that creating the conflict??? if it has to be deleted why cant i it says action restriced cant delete

I don't know if I am blind.......or BJ took changed the name to these files or what but I have a couple of the icons working but there is no tapres.192.dll file in my windows folder. Anybody know if it is named something else or how to fix it?

I believe you can do this with GODZONS fonts. You just need to get a font that changes the windows and tf3d. Heres the link:

That is for font, Im looking to change the actual letters to something other then "Start"..

Yea i think so too. I know nine was talkin about opening up a thread and takin requests to customize it for em. I dont know how to do it, or I would try and teach em.

yes supeman is correct... i wantd to open the thread for custom start text but the 'start' text and wait cursor r on the same mui, so it would have to be a thead to accept 'start text' or 'cursor' or 'text and cursor'.. im still thinking on the amount of time itll take and the fact that so far its only working on the 6800 iv testd the cursor on touchpro with no success... ill start the thread later tonight or write up a tutorial on how to change ur start text kinda like this that include pix.. sorry for the long wait but iv been busy with court and my kids..

for the evdo icon, there is no file called tapres.192.dll....... there is either tapres.dll or tapres.96.dll.... i am using htc touch 6900 btw..... what should i do ?? change which one ???

Just rename the tapres.192.dll to tapres.96.dll and paste it into your windows folder. This will work no problem.. I've done it several times already.

On the Touch the BT icon does not display in the top bar. It only displays on the bottom right in the running tasks. But, if your running TF2D it covers them up. Trust me I've tried figuring this out but was very unsuccessful.

Dude, your pretty good at these. You should start a request thread for em, or atleast a thread with all your work. Just load it up with your custom icons, there all good as anything I've seen anyone do:)

Hmmm, there really isn't a forum that really fits a thread like that. So just make it in this one(WM applications) We can always move it if a better forum is thought of. And if you are doing request, I will link it in the first post and make it a sticky so its easily found.

This is the simplest way known right now. There are too many things to change to make it just one cab or a quick fix.

Nah the shell res is a dll file. You can edit it and enter the custom icon into it I believe, but you gotta have the know-how on that...and I for one, dont. Lol.

Well one does come with the taskbar cab, i believe it is the HTC symbol. If it isnt you can follow the link below to ppcgeeks, they got more there. Just go to post #2 in that thread.

did you try a hard reset and see if that fixes it........ or you could try to uninstall the cabs that you already installed.

whast do you mean the hard reset didnt work? you have to be able to hard reset the phone...... you can even do from start/settings/system/clear storage will also hard reset the device.

word so still no keys..... sounds like you are having a problem with the actual hardware of the phone...... i would bring it into the repair center and see what they can do for you..... hope that you have insurance on that puppy.
