REV A And GPS For The Touch

Since the other threads are full of posts, I thought I would create this sticky thread with all the steps needed to get Rev A and GPS on a Sprint Touch with the Alltel ROM.

Things to download:
- Newest Alltel ROM: http://216.139.227.226/alltel/RUU_Vo...SpecialNBH.exe
- ImCokeMan's 2.31 Unlocker: http://www.mediafire.com/?dnmmthzm9ng

Now for the fun part....
1) Connect your phone to your computer and establish an ActiveSync connection.
2) Run the Vogue_unlocker_MFG_2.31.exe on your computer and follow all of the prompts (including when to disconnect the USB cable and reconnect).
3) After you get into Windows, do the Power-Camera-Reset to get into ImCokeMan's Bootloader (the rainbow screen).
4) Run the Alltel ROM exe file (follow all prompts).
5) DO A SOFT RESET BEFORE THE CUSTOMIZATIONS RUN or you will not have an internet connection.
6) Install the 3 unlocking files
7) Soft reset
8) Install the GPS cab (to the device if asked)
9) Soft reset

Now to check settings:
- Go to Start > Settings > Personal > Phone > Services > Location Settings > Make sure its set to ON.
- Start > Settings > System > GPS > GPS Program Port is 4, Hardware Port is None, Baud Rate is 4800, Access is set to automatically

Now there are a variety of programs out there to test GPS, so choose one, go outside and wait for up to 5-10 minutes for it to get its first lock. Sometimes it happens quick, sometimes it can take a while. Make sure your program is set to Com 4 for GPS.

Ok so this rom is the BOMB!!!!!!!!!!! BUUUUUUUT I have one complaint. Before one my stock rom I could just click my new picture mail link and it would go to it. Now it doesn't. Any tips???

download sMMS that i just posted the otherday. It's the best way IMO to do picture mail.

Ok so this worked great for sending BUT it didn't help my incoming. Before I uploaded this rom I would clcik the link to go to my new picture mail and it would go there. NOW, when I click it it goes to the login page for sprint picture mail. and show me the picture there which is flash based so I can't use the buttons there to view pic. Also when I start PIE it goes to alltels home site instead of my normal sprint one. An suggestions???

I've always used the same picture mail, it would open in iexplore on my device as a web page. as for the PIE homepage issue, just go to the page you want as your home page, then go Menu -> Tools -> Options... after you are there click Use Current and it will set your current page as your home page. :)

I am not sure what the home page was. Nother dumb question. I might just flash back to stock rom but where do I get it?? lol. Small things like that bug me.

EDIT*** Looked in the rom section and wanted to know if the stock rom for sprint is the one to use on the touch??? says mogul in description so where do I find the vogue stock rom????

LOL, SO I am trying to go back from this rom to the stock sprint rom. I have tried the storc rom thread venum posted last night and it was telling me my PDA was not valid for that rom. (MORE INFO IN THAT THREAD) So, I am just trying to go factory with my rom. Why cause I have not found a good SPRINT based rom with WM6 not WM6.1.

are you serious it says if the cab files are down or not working try the original source and all that you need will be right there sicne they are hoasted on the ftp and never took down.

excuse me you want me to help or not i didnt understand since you werent putting it clearly so dont get an attiude with me..... and as long as when your in the rainbow bootloader screen its says usb and not serial youare connected and hole down the power buttion and camera button while soft resettign and you will ge tthe bootloader screen.

ok look at the title of the thread and you tell me!!!!! Yes it will enable gps or it wouldnt say so in the title and the steps and descrption wouldnt be there.

Works great, now i have a sprint phone thinking its alltel. Is that going to be a problem with my service at all, or is there anyway I can re-sprintify it. No biggie though I am just happy as hell that my gps works now on my touch!

Has there been any issues to this rom? Right now my phone shows no service available I have the touch and i can't open my phone program at all. It was working, installed this, this morning and she did good till right now. any advice?

after you were done did you take the battery out and hard reset??? also did you let the customzations run trough alltel if your not an altel sunscribr?

I followed the instructions that you put out, to the "T' with an exception of the power camera reset. I have a Touch. But after I was unable to open my phone i ended up doing a hard reset, and yes i did a soft reset before the programs installed. Things appear to be working fine, i haven't had any issues since. Should I try taking the Battery out and hard reset?

I know... Im not the brightest crayon in the box, but i kept seeing the alltel rom thing and was worried. Now i tried to download all four files but these 3 of the 4 wouldnt work:

Well with a lil troubleshooting i think i found out on accident why my phone lost service. It appears that when i redownloaded after the three unlocker files after i had to hard reset thats when my service went out. Any ideas on why that would have happened?

no, the mogul is the 6800 and the vogue is the Touch aka the 6900

well i got the files off the other site that was listed, but im having trouble, when it gets about half way through the unlock program, it says error, for me to make sure usb isnt enabled for active sync, well the first time i couldnt go through and do it because my phone was all different colors, so i had to soft reset it, ...after that i unchecked the box for it, used bluetooth to sync and went from there, then it got to that part again, said to connect to usb so i hooked it up and it took a while and i still got the same error even thought i already disabled the usb like it said too

bro the rainbow screen is what you need that is bootloader. and why go through the hassle of doing this when you can just flash a custom or if your with sprint a stock rom that enables it.

lmao you hold the power button and the camer button down all the way and than you soft reset with them still held down..... and why you using this???? outdated if you ask me, jsut use the roms that we have released for the touch aka vogue with this enabled already.

well jr5416 and dash i am trying to get this custom rom that jr5416 suggested. now ImCokeMan's 2.31 Unlocker is not there for upload so kinda stuck here. which of these files do i really need besides coke mans. well only a little over an hour into this project and havent got nothing sweet on my phone yet lmao.
