Since the other threads are full of posts, I thought I would create this sticky thread with all the steps needed to get Rev A and GPS on a Sprint Touch with the Alltel ROM.

CDMA PHONES ONLY FOR THIS DOWNLOAD!!! NO GSM/SIM CARD USERS

Things to download:
- Newest Alltel ROM: http://216.139.227.226/alltel/RUU_Vo...SpecialNBH.exe

Now for the fun part....
1) Connect your phone to your computer and establish an ActiveSync connection.
2) Run the Vogue_unlocker_MFG_2.31.exe on your computer and follow all of the prompts (including when to disconnect the USB cable and reconnect).
3) After you get into Windows, do the Power-Camera-Reset to get into ImCokeMan's Bootloader (the rainbow screen).
4) Run the Alltel ROM exe file (follow all prompts).
5) DO A SOFT RESET BEFORE THE CUSTOMIZATIONS RUN or you will not have an internet connection.
6) Install the 3 unlocking files
7) Soft reset
8) Install the GPS cab (to the device if asked)
9) Soft reset

Now to check settings:
- Go to Start > Settings > Personal > Phone > Services > Location Settings > Make sure its set to ON.
- Start > Settings > System > GPS > GPS Program Port is 4, Hardware Port is None, Baud Rate is 4800, Access is set to automatically

Now there are a variety of programs out there to test GPS, so choose one, go outside and wait for up to 5-10 minutes for it to get its first lock. Sometimes it happens quick, sometimes it can take a while. Make sure your program is set to Com 4 for GPS.

no this si only for cdma since alltel is cdma and you need that rom flashed on your phone..... GO CDMA ALREADY

CDMA means that i do not have a sim card right?

If that is right, this will work on ANY cdma company, like the Bell HTC touch which i own?

Sorry to ask those question, just dont want to ruin my phone :P

GSM= sim card
CDMA= no sim such as sprint alltel bell verizon etc .

i hate GSM i hate it i hate it i hate it i hate it......and i cant buy out of this rogers contract because it will cost me 500$ to do so AAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i want GPS GOD DAMNIT!..well atleast i can do it on the gf's phone

i unlocked using the unlocker from the link, then bootloader came up and i ran the altell rom update and it said "error [294] : invalid vender id" and tells me to quit
it wont even let me flash back to a stock rom...any ideas?

Does Flashing your phone with another rom ruins your warranty with your service provider(Cuz I waz smoart nd i tuk ann extanded wurranty!)...

than you didnt unlock the phone or you have gsm make sure to follow the steps in the first post.

for cdma yes for sure this will help in making custom roms with it prebuilt for all cdma touch's

i think i missed the step where i was supposed to use Power-Camera-
Reset...will it work if i just do that now? that just mean hold the power and camera buttons while resetting right?

Hey, thanks for the response. I am really new in this whole flashing rom and stuff but i am pretty skilled when it comes to computer or ppc software... I was wondering what did you meant exactly when you can flash back and relock...

From what i have read so far on roms(trying to educate myself a little before doing this on my touch), you need an exe rom to be able to flash your phone to the original state right? I cant seem to find any exe rom for my Bell htc touch... Would that be a problem?

yeah i tried to run unlocker again to no avail doesn't recognize it's attached to the computer so i did the power-camera-reset and it resets and for a second before bootloader goes it says loading then it says no image available then it goes to bootloader so i tried to flash altell rom again then i go to 11% and my screen turns off and i get the same error as before ([294] invalid vendor id) did i brick my phone?

not all roms are exe files some need to be ran with the ruu look at my signature for further details. its for the mogul but the same steps are used jsut different applications. since you have the touch you dont need to relock the phone but jsut flash back to the stock rom and you will be straight since that is what you were wanting. the stock rom for bell can be found here do a search its your friend since we will not anymore tell you where the apps are located at in the future. just go to the side menu and than go to mobile cutomizations. than once there go to roms without support and you will find the newest jsut released bell rom.

no your not unlocked. if you want i offer a service wehre i mod with whatever rom you want and apps on the phone for 60 bucks shipped back to you and the phone is shipped back out modded the day after i receive. so if i receive on monday would be shipped back out on tuesday modded.

I dont know if you did or didnt brick your phone but trying to educate myself i found this thread which indicates how to unbrick your phone after running altell rom... Hope this helps...

GPS and REV A definatly work, i am running the stock alltel rom so i could get the radio upgrade and i flashed to JD's rom more sprint like.


My GPS WORKS GREAT google maps or whatever program you use make sure to set your GPS Program port to COM4.


GOOD LUCK TO ALL I hope to post a video of a tutorial step by step on how to do this i bricked my phone once today and got it back lol then i figured it out.

Is there a way and how should I go about backing up all of my installed programs before running ROM Upgrade Utillity? Can I just run a normal backup and then run a restore afterwards?

ok so now when my phone goes to sleep it wont turn back on....how do i fix that...does that mean my phone is brick? please help thanks

my bad thats for the mogul not sure how to do it for the touch. if you need to go to the bootloader just flash the hardspl unlocker tool and that will do it

no since your changing stuff around like the rom image you will have to install everything again.

ok now when i click on the link to download the GPS files it is a bad link....so i then clicked on the other link that you put if links were nt working...then click again on GPS files and it says................. I made a cab for the Titan containing all the files. So far nobody has reported any luck with the cab, but here it is if you guys want to play with them: so should this cab work for the touch?

use google maps after you have done the install and try. it will take a long time to lock the first time also. if it still doesnt work oyu messed up somewhere.

search google or here on the site and make sure ou get the ppc version. it is a freeware.



ummm download the exe file for it. do a search bro. or you could just hard reset and run on the rom you have on there being alltel since it has rev a and a lot of people have been doing this.

the reason i want to go back to the orignal rom my sprint touch came with is now all of a sudden my internet is not working,,,it wont connect to sites at all....it was working after i went to altel rom now sof reset and its not working...now what i even tried a hard reset and still not working....will you please give me the link to the original sprint rom please and step by step directions on how to flash it back please please

That rom looks pretty neat! I mean the one with built in by Mustan...

One quick question, in term of stability(less bug and errors), do you think this one or mustan one is better?

I downloaded the mustan rom earlier today, and its more to what i like, seems like i have had no problems all day i use ultimate launcher and with jd's it would freeze constantly, i havent had one prob with mustan i would give that a try its nice

Sorry for the dumb question Dash but I'm a little confused. Is this for the Sprint Touch or the Alltel Touch? And if its not for the Sprint version.......WHEN THE HECK IS THAT REV A COMING OUT FOR THE TOUCH!!!
