Three reasons the Galaxy A37 could replace your Galaxy A34 soon

If you’re no longer happy with the Galaxy A34 and feel like it’s time for an upgrade, you may want to wait a few more months before Samsung announces the Galaxy A37.



While nothing is official yet, several Galaxy A37 specs have already leaked. Based on that information, here are three upgrades worth waiting for, plus one downgrade you should be aware of.

Upgrade #1: Better build quality and design



The Galaxy A34 is starting to show its age. Its lack of a camera housing is a clear marker of its generation, while the upcoming Galaxy A37 is expected to adopt a more modern look with a proper camera hump.



IP67 dust and water resistance likely won’t change, but build materials should. The Galaxy A34 uses a plastic back, whereas the Galaxy A37 is expected to feature a Gorilla Glass rear panel at the very least. Other minor design refinements are also possible.



Upgrade #2: Better performance



The Galaxy A37 won’t rewrite the mid-range playbook with its rumored Exynos 1480 chip, but it should still offer a noticeable performance boost over the Galaxy A34’s MediaTek Dimensity 1080.



The Exynos 1480 was Samsung’s first mid-range chip to make One UI feel noticeably smoother. The Galaxy A37 should inherit those gains.



Multitasking may also improve thanks to higher base RAM. If you’re using the 4GB Galaxy A34 and run into app loading issues due to low memory, the jump to 6GB or even 8GB of RAM on the A37 should be worth it.



Upgrade #3: Faster charging



Like the Galaxy A34, the Galaxy A37 is expected to feature a 5,000mAh battery. Charging speeds, however, should improve.



Instead of 25W charging, the Galaxy A37 is rumored to support 45W, cutting down charging times significantly. Of course, you will have to buy a 45W charger separately to take advantage of this upgrade.



What’s the downside of upgrading from the Galaxy A34?



The Galaxy A34 was the second-to-last A3x phone to discard the microSD card slot. The first to drop it was the Galaxy A36.



That means expandable storage isn’t coming back with the Galaxy A37. If you rely heavily on microSD cards, this is something to keep in mind.



Then again, if you only need occasional external storage for backups and safekeeping, you can still use portable SSDs to transfer or back up files from Galaxy phones that lack micro SD storage.



When will the Galaxy A37 be official?



Samsung may announce the Galaxy A37 as early as February. If you own a Galaxy A34, it may be worth keeping an eye out for improved trade-in deals for early adopters. We’ll keep you posted.



And if you’re willing to spend a bit more, you may also want to consider skipping the A37 altogether and upgrading to a higher-tier option like the upcoming Galaxy A57.
