Samsung starts paving the way for the launch of its smart glasses

Samsung launched a few notable devices in 2025. There was the Galaxy S25 Edge, its thinnest flagship Galaxy S phone, the Galaxy XR, its first extended reality headset, and the Galaxy Z TriFold, its first tri-fold phone.



There are some notable devices in the pipeline for this year as well. For instance, we may finally see the launch of Samsung's smart glasses, and it appears that the company has begun paving the way for their arrival.



First of two smart glasses expected to arrive this year



Samsung has sent out an update for the Nearby Device Scanning feature on its mobile devices. This feature allows for seamless pairing between your Galaxy smartphone or tablet and other devices, such as smartwatches and smart rings.



This feature would understandably be of use for the smart glasses as they will also require seamless connectivity with the mobile device. The latest update released for Nearby Device Scanning mentions support for Glasses Quickpair. As the name suggests, this component will allow for quick pairing of glasses to the mobile device.



The recently released Nearby Device Scanning update also brings support for One UI 8.5, which is the next major iteration of Samsung's custom Android skin, and is due to be launched in the coming months.



Samsung is already running a beta program for One UI 8.5 and it's likely going to be rolled out for existing supported devices after the Galaxy S26 series is released.
