Future Samsung foldables could be lighter while having bigger batteries

While we are still waiting for the launch of the Galaxy S26 series, some new information about the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 has surfaced. A new report claims that Samsung is trying to cut down the weight of its future foldable phones rather than making them thinner. It could also equip at least one foldable with a bigger battery.



A South Korean report suggests the Galaxy Z Flip 8 could weigh just 150g. This would make it 38g lighter than the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which weighs 188g. Furthermore, the report claims the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could weigh only 200g, making it 15g lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, take this information with a grain of salt, as a 38g reduction for the Galaxy Z Flip 8 seems highly unfeasible.



The report also claims that Samsung is planning to equip the Galaxy Z Fold 8 with a 5,000mAh battery. That would be 600mAh higher than the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This seems feasible, but the phone would still have a smaller battery compared to its rivals like the OPPO Find N6, which is rumored to have a 6,000mAh battery.

Despite a significant increase in the cost of memory chips, application processors (chipsets), and other smartphone components compared to last year, Samsung is reportedly not raising the prices of Galaxy S26 series devices, but could reduce pre-order benefits. It could raise the prices of some Galaxy A series phones, though.
