Samsung’s AI washing machines can reduce your energy consumption by 30%

Samsung has launched multiple iterations of its AI-powered washing machines and dryers. On the surface, it may not seem that AI does much for such an appliance, but the company is now out with some quantifiable benefits of this technology.



It ran tests to find out just how much the AI Energy Mode on this appliance can help reduce energy consumption. As it turns out, the technology does very well.

Samsung has revealed that the AI Energy Mode on this appliance can reduce energy usage by up to 30%. The AI Energy Mode is a smart feature that manages and reduces the energy consumption of Samsung's connected appliances.



The company got to these results by measuring, in the real world, the energy usage of nearly 187,000 Samsung washing machines in more than 126 countries. The test ran from July last year to June 2025. It was conducted to verify the energy saving credentials of the appliances' Carbon Trust certification.



The results showed that AI Energy Mode saved around 5.02GWh of energy, which is nearly 30% of the total consumption. This is a significant amount of energy which is equal to the amount of electricity used by 14,000 households in Seoul every month during the summers.



AI Energy Mode was left to run freely. It was discovered the more this mode was used, the bigger the reduction in energy consumption. Samsung is working to expand this AI power saving technology to other appliances. It's likely going to unveil new appliances with similar functionality at the Consumer Electronics Show 2026 in Las Vegas next month.
