The Galaxy A33 picked up its last major Android OS update a couple of months ago. If you're still rocking the A33 in 2025, you will likely want to look for an upgrade soon, particularly if you're planning to stay up-to-date with future One UI upgrades



As difficult as it may be to admit, the Galaxy A33 is starting to show its age on several fronts, from specs to design and beyond. Even its One UI 8.0 update isn't the same as it is on newer phones, as it lacks Advanced Intelligent features. Thankfully, a much better phone is around the corner, and you might get a fantastic upgrade option sooner rather than later.



Although Samsung hasn't made any announcements yet, the Galaxy A37 should go on sale in 2025. In fact, recent rumors say that it may debut earlier than usual, in just two months or so. And there's a lot of great stuff to look forward to.



Even if the Galaxy A37 hasn't leaked that much, we can make a few educated guesses about its potential features based on what the current Galaxy A36 has to offer.



A couple of losses but many more gains



First things first, yes, not everything is all roses. You will have to give up on expandable storage. The A36 was the first A3x to ditch the microSD card slot, and you can be certain that Samsung won't backtrack on this decision. The upcoming A37 will lack expandable storage too.



One other thing you will have to give up is the fourth camera on the back panel — the depth sensor. Samsung hasn't used this since the A34. And if you don't find yourself using it either, then you have nothing to worry about.



Thankfully, the upgrades you can expect from the Galaxy A37 greatly outweigh the downsides. Surely, the phone will feel like a breath of fresh air for people who have been stuck with the 2022 model all these years.



Here are some of the most significant upgrades Galaxy A33 users can look forward to in early 2026.

• A larger Super AMOLED display of at least 6.7 inches.
• A brighter screen with enhanced Vision Booster.
• A higher refresh rate of 120Hz.
• A more powerful chip.
• More RAM as standard.
• Improved primary and selfie cameras — at the least.
• Better connectivity features — at least Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4.
• Faster charging — 45W.
• Superior build quality and a modern design.
• Longer-term firmware support for up to six OS versions.
• The Android 16-based One UI 8.0 or One UI 8.5 update out of the box.
• At least a few Advanced Intelligence features.

The Galaxy A37 might be even better than expected



The upgrades listed above aren't confirmed, but they are safe bets according to the A36's spec sheet. In fact, the upcoming Galaxy A37 might hold more surprises and become an even better upgrade proposition at launch than we expect based on these specs. We'll have to wait and see.



All in all, if you've used your Galaxy A33 for the past three-plus years and are finally eager for an upgrade, 2026 might be a good year for you. The Galaxy A37 will likely be a strong contender, but we'll know for sure in a couple of months. Now it's time to start saving.
