It's been more than five years since Samsung released its last Galaxy Note phone, and if you're a fan of the S Pen, the Galaxy S Ultra lineup has remained your best and only option. But which S Ultra is the best S Pen phone?



In my eyes, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the indisputable answer. The S24 Ultra is not just the ultimate S Pen phone but the best spiritual successor the Note series could have hoped for.



5 reasons why I am crowning the Galaxy S24 Ultra



The Galaxy S24 Ultra is the ultimate incarnation of the Note spirit, not only because of its superior hardware but also because of a better core design philosophy than the last Notes in the series, i.e., the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 10.



But to keep it short, I devised a concise list of the main reasons why the Galaxy S24 Ultra is, to me, the ultimate S Pen device and Note successor and replacement.

• Dedicated holster for an integrated S Pen (duh!)
  
• The best S Pen experience with the lowest latency of just 2.8ms.
  
• The most complete S Pen experience. The last to feature Bluetooth and Air Actions.
  
• A flat display, which is better suited for the S Pen experience.
  
• The only Samsung phone to have all of the above and a titanium frame.

Regarding that last point, I am a firm believer that Samsung's curved Edge displays should have never been used for the Note series. An Edge display might look good, but it certainly hurts the S Pen experience. Using the S Pen on a curved surface (near the edges of the screen) is far from ideal.



But back to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, those are my five reasons why it is the ultimate S Pen phone and the best spiritual Note successor.



In fact, it is better than the last few Note models Samsung made years ago, not just because of the newer hardware but because of the flat design.



Add to that list all the other powerful hardware surrounding the S Pen, and you have yourself a fantastic phone. Granted, the newer Galaxy S25 Ultra is awesome in its own right. But it unfortunately lacks Bluetooth and Air Actions, so it simply can't be the superior S Pen device.



And that is why the Galaxy S24 Ultra is my ultimate S Pen phone and Note replacement. It's the only one that combines all of those qualities mentioned above in a single package. And it might never be beaten in this regard.
