Galaxy S26 Ultra could have the widest Infinity-O camera cutout yet

New phones adopt at least minor aesthetic changes every year. And so far, according to the leaks, the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra will stand out primarily through a new camera housing design, or the reintroduction of a camera plateau, if you will.



Now, according to a new rumor from X, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will also have a more noticeable front-facing camera, strangely enough.



If true, Samsung will essentially make the S26 Ultra's imaging hardware stand out more, both at the back and front.



If you have a micrometer handy and want to compare your current phone with Samsung's next flagship, the source shared some dimensions. The Galaxy S26 Ultra's Infinity-O selfie camera cutout has a diameter of 4mm.



As per the report, this is the largest Infinity-O cutout in any Galaxy S Ultra model to date. And what makes this even more curious is that the front-facing sensor is supposedly unchanged from the S25 Ultra.








The source is very confident in this report, so we have to guess that the 4mm diameter wasn't mere guesswork based on the design of 3rd-party screen protectors.



Speaking of such screen protectors, they've previously confirmed another significant design change for the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra. Namely, its corners will be rounder compared to the S25 Ultra.



In a way, looking at the mockup screenshot above, the larger selfie camera diameter might fit better on the phone with rounder corners, whereas the smaller cutout seems to fit the S25 Ultra's sharper corners better.



However, whether this was a conscious aesthetic choice on Samsung's part is unconfirmed. The source of this rumor blames cost-cutting efforts, but that seems more of a personal take on the matter. There could be other factors at play here.

It will be interesting to see if the base Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26+ models will have similarly enlarged Infinity-O cutouts in their displays. These phones will most likely be equipped with the same selfie camera as the Ultra model.



We'll find out everything soon enough. Even if Samsung stops all the leaks, which likely won't happen, the S26 series is drawing near. One recent rumor that kickstarted this new week claims that Samsung could announce the Galaxy S26 series in January, before releasing the phones globally in February.
