Rss Feed The Galaxy A56 set a high bar, the A57 might need these upgrades to top it

Early indications suggest that Samsung is working on a sequel to the Galaxy A56. And considering how good the Galaxy A56 is, it's fair to say that Samsung will have a steep hill to climb if it wants to improve upon the series with the upcoming Galaxy A57.

How exactly could Samsung go about making the Galaxy A57 better than its predecessor? I mean, a faster Exynos SoC is par for the course at this point, but what else can Samsung do? Here are the main improvements that I'd like the Galaxy A57 to bring to the table.

A brighter screen

The Galaxy A56's display is already decently bright, but if Samsung pushes the limit of its 2026 flagship phones beyond 2600 nits, I think the Galaxy A57 also deserves an upgrade.

The A56's Super AMOLED display peaks at 1900 nits of brightness, but I'd love to see the Galaxy A57 surpass this and potentially reach 2600 nits.

Slimmer bezels, or at least a chinless design

Speaking of display specs, I think the Galaxy A57 could make a bigger splash if it were to become the first in the series to sport a chinless design.

Sure, thinner bezels are always a sign of a more premium build, but I think that uniform bezels might be an even better indicator of a higher-end design.

The thick lower display bezel is one of the design elements that hold the Galaxy A56 back. And I believe that even if Samsung can't make the Galaxy A57's display bezels thinner, it should at least make them symmetrical.

8GB of RAM at the very least

General performance is one thing, but multitasking prowess is another. With even the Galaxy A series now promising up to six major OS upgrades, hardware future-proofing is a concern.

The Galaxy A56 and the Exynos 1580 chip already do a good job with their smooth UI performance, and I don't expect the Galaxy A57 to disappoint in this regard.

However, for the sake of longevity at the very least, I hope that the Galaxy A57 will feature 8GB of RAM as standard instead of 6GB.

Better and louder speakers

With the exception of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Samsung has improved the speakers on its premium Galaxy phones year after year.

Galaxy A phones, and more specifically the Galaxy A5x series, also saw some improvements in this area from one generation to the next. But these improvements have been rather mild.

In short, the Galaxy A57 could use higher-quality and louder speakers. This upgrade, combined with a better screen, would make it a more enjoyable multimedia device.

A physical proximity sensor

On paper, physical proximity sensors are superior to virtual proximity sensors. In practice, the Galaxy A56 does more than a decent job with just a virtual proximity sensor.

So, while I can't say that a physical sensor upgrade is a must for the Galaxy A57, it could be a relatively low-cost upgrade that might not only improve the experience but also appease critics and help market the phone.

Bonus upgrade: An Armor Aluminum frame

Thanks to Samsung switching from a plastic to an aluminum frame in 2024, Galaxy A5x phones now feel more premium and have greater rigidity. They seem to have a higher resilience than ever.

I wouldn't say that another upgrade in this area is necessary, especially if it means a higher price. But as someone who uses phones without protective cases, I wouldn't mind it if the Galaxy A57 featured an even more durable Armor Aluminum build.

The Galaxy S22+ was the first phone that I have used extensively without a case. And when the time came to switch to the S24+, the S22+ barely had any scars, despite the fact that I dropped it countless times.

You could say it was partly luck, but I want to believe that the Armor Aluminum frame helped.

All in all, trusting your phone's structural strength can feel liberating, so while build quality improvements don't seem critical for the Galaxy A57, I'd still welcome them.

When will Samsung release the Galaxy A57?

There's no official word regarding the Galaxy A57's release, market availability, and price, but it should go on sale in the first half of 2026.

Until then, the Galaxy A56 remains the best choice in the A-series. Exactly how Samsung will improve the formula next year remains to be determined. Some of the potential upgrades I mentioned above may actually happen, and others might not. Regardless, the A57 will have to outdo the A56 one way or another.
