Hello - with the HTC Touch HD

Hello folks.


Just posting first post.

Not new to forums, or phones, or stuff like that... but hey, somewhere to start.

Got myself the HTC Touch HD last week after contemplating for ages on whether to get the 8GB iPhone, 16GB N96, or wait for the N97, or splash out more for the Xperia X1.

Went for the HTC Touch HD in the end.


Not a bad phone - a couple of niggles so far (I came from 18months using the N95 original):

1. Not easy/straight forwards to have profiles (I go on call, and usually have a profile for on call, with the longest/loudest SMS alert possible...)
2. Severe lack of third party application/game developers to make use of the high resolution and touch screen of this phone (unlike the iPhone, where there are tonnes of apps/games)
3. Ring tones/SMS alerts aren't loud enough...
4. I haven't found a way to assign a ringtone to a particular caller/group of callers (e.g. Friends, or Family, Work colleagues)

Hopefully most of these niggles are essentially software fixes. The hardware is all there. Just need some serious developers to do some decent apps and games to show off the high res screen/touch screen capabilities. :connie_mykilroy:

fixes for all of that will be in a custom rom... and lack of apps? we have over 10,000 apps and games here so there is no lack :glasses1: have fun and enjoy the site and all it has to offer.

Yes, I feel exactly the same, i'm quite happy with my new HD, well...until i see adverts for the Iphone/itouch...!
I know there are thousands of games and business applications for windows mobile, but honestly...have you seen them..!? the graphics are something i would have found cool 10 years ago, not 2009..!
I think you're quite right, there are bugger-all decent titles that make use of the WVGA display and accelerometer like the iphone/itouch..
It really annoys me to think that i've got a better phone yet can't perform due to the lack of decent software available..
I'm pretty sure that if there was more product advertising for this phone, more and more software developers would jump on the bandwagon and bring out some killer applications..!
