AE Button Plus v2.6.1
This utility extends functionality of harware keys on Windows Mobile devices. It allows you to:
intercept almost any standard button: application buttons, WM5 SoftKeys, Volume slider, Action and even Red/Green phone buttons
distinguish up to 4 different keypress events on each button grabbed (single, double, triple and "long" keypresses).
remap each of the keypress events to "virtual" application button or assign them directly to one of the wide set of built-in actions.

As a result you may "convert" volume slider to up/down arrows, assign several essential application buttons to these "SoftKey" buttons and even assign your favorit alternative dialer to red/green phone buttons.
Current list of built-in keypress actions
Run Application
Emulate keypress of many hardware buttons like Enter/Esc/up/down/left/right/red/green/WM5 softkeys/volume etc.
Emulate standard application buttons
"Virtual Application Button"
Being specified as keypress action, "Virtual button" appears in standard Start -> Settings -> Buttons setup dialog and may be assigned here.
Close (terminate) active application
Switch next application
Alt+Tab (switch between two last applications)
Task Manager with charge level / memory summary info. Task manager may be operated with directional pad (up/down - choose application, left/action - switch to, right - terminate) or finger/stylus.

You may apply filters to hide annoying applications (e.g. Phone)
Ok/Close
Start Menu
Switch Display Off/On. Once you switch display OFF you may turn it back ON by the same keypress event or simply pressing Power On button.
Switch BlueTooth Off/On
Switch WiFi Off/On
Switch Vibration mode Off/On (WM5 only)
Switch Phone module Off/On
Switch Speakerphone mode Off/On
Switch "Flashlight" Off/On (HTC devices only)
Lock/unlock device (WM5 only)
Turn Off PDA
Soft-Reset PDA (Soft Reset)
Screen rotation
Go Online / Drop DialUp connections / Trigger Online
Disable "Power Off device if not used..."
Switch to Today screen
Cliwckedoard operations: Select All / Copy / Cut / Paste
Memory Monitor

Now can anyone give me a clue on how to use it, lol.

After you start it you will see the Keys, Volume up/down, Green, red, Up arrow, ect..
Highlight the key you want to assign something to. Like the up Arrow, It will say "do not touch button" in the box bellow, click that box, you will have a few drop down boxes pop up, The top box select "Handle by AEBPlus" the 2nd box select what kinda of action you want to use, like "Long Press" then the 3rd box pick what that button does, like "Turn off display". Then click Exit and Save.

Now when you press and hold the up arrow your display will turn off.

You can still tap your up arrow and it will work as normal. If you hold a button normally, like the volume button (as i do) in box 2 you will select not "Long Press" but say "tripple press".. This way what ever you assin to your volume button you can still long press it to use it but 3 fast bbutton presses will activate what you assigned to it. Like say, Turning your blue tooth on or off..

Thank you for the response. I am still having some issues. Here is a few questions

1) see attached image. what is the difference between Green Phone button and left soft key / red phone button and right soft key. which keys are the "soft Keys"

2) If I follow your directions and try to make the red key do anything (threee presses, etc) it stops working normally.

I must be doing something wrong

well common sense would state green and red are the hard buttons because thats their color...and soft keys are the ones you press on the touch screen.

lol, i know that - but on my Fuze I have no idea which touch screen images the soft keys are

the softkeys are the onscreen touch buttons at the bottom of your screen on the laft and right sides respectivly....

I guess since I am using Mobile Shell as my today screen and never see the normal today screen, i just do not see those buttons. Oh well.

well this app is mostly for hardware buttons anyways. like your volume control, camera, ect.

Im not sure what your phone looks like. But on my old MotoQ, There was a Dpad with up/down/left/right arrows and a silver button in the middle. On the left and right of that center directional pad theres a button on each side. THose are the "Soft Keys"
The left Key may say Menu on the screen, pressing it will access my menu, When a call comes in, it will say Answer above the key, and pressing it will of course answer the phone. Those are your soft keys. The multi functional Keys.

My HTC Touch Pro i dont think has soft keys. The top left is always "home", and the top right is always "back". Not sure if those would be considered soft keys.

To question Number 2.. So far I have not had a problem with this on my Touch Pro. But I did try a program called Gscroll. And that made my zoom feature for txt messaging stop working.. Normally you would slide your finger clockwise or counter clockwise around the enter button.. So it simply didnt work to well with the TOuch Pro.

It doesnt seem like you are doing anything wrong. Play around with it some more. Try mapping a different key.. But in the end, some apps just dont work well on some phones.

the hard keys are the actual buttons on your phone like the red and green ones for call out begin and call end....... the soft keys are the two at the bottom of the screen..... you actually have to use your finger to touchthe soft keys onscreen.

is this program supposed to be able to re map the wifi switch? i didnt see that option on it. im trying to make it like a keylock switch instead.

naw i dont think that you can change the wifi switch to anything......
