Touch Pro Sprint Navigation UPDATE AND FIX step by step

Ok well I got my Touch pro and as expected I love it. One thing about the Diamond and Touch Pro that bothered me was the sprint navigation. When you open the sprint navigation it is actually opening the Telenav application that sprint has decided to put their name all over which really bugs me to begin with but also another thing that Im sure you have noticed is that the sprint navigation (Telenav) is very distorted and pixilated around the buttons etc., and even the splash screen is quite messy. Well I have been looking at the files for Telenav and I've found out that this is because sprint has decided to put a version of Telenav on our phones that was actually built for phones with a much lower screen resolution than the Diamond/Pro.

Here's the fix and believe me if you are planning on using the navigation a regular basis like I do its well worth it.

Step 1. Download the cab file located at the following address (THIS IS OFFICIAL TELENAV SITE)

and choose HTC as your option.

step 2. Install the cab to your device (not storage card) and after install go ahead and run the program. (start menu/programs/TELENAV)

Step 3. On first run the program will go thru a setup where your telephone number will already be displayed and under that the set up wants you to enter your pin (obtain your pin number by going to

and choosing the link "Get Your Pin” after putting in your phone number) they will text you with your pin number in just a few seconds and you may now enter that number into the Telnav setup on your Diamond/Pro

Step 4. After setup is complete you may want to navigate to Windows/Start menu/Programs and delete “sprint navigation.lnk” so that you dont have duplicate icons in your programs list.

Done!

The end result is the original Telenav splash screen which is not distorted at all and mentions nothing about Sprint, All Buttons within Telnav are now grey and black theme with no distortion or pixilation, an easier to navigate interface that is not plastered with all the crap logos that Sprint put in the original.

You will not need to worry about your favorite places being deleted because the favorites must be updated on the Telenav servers. Woo Hoo, nothing missing and a much better product.

I love it... the only complaint is it wasnt designed specifically for the pro. It doesnt use the G-sensor when you go sideways (landscape) with the phone,

Not sure why but I have never experienced this issue. I remember one day after flashing a new rom that somehow i had completely lost sprint nav, so i googled all over the place and found sprint nav VGA and found it to be pretty kick ass. Nothing like previously stated. I tried to locate on my storage card the exact cab that I used and i'm pretty sure that this one is it.

Never-the-less, this is a PRO/Diamond modification. Wont work on the mogul

hey scott, is this a fix for the "pin has expired" issue? because i get that message also when i try to log in to telenav...

ok...for everyone who got this error, i spent a while on this one but got the fix. The reason it recognizes your account but states that it's expired is due to the fact (and i know that this is odd seeing how we never had this previously with working versions) that you are missing an account that verifies your subscription. Easy fix though. All that you need to do is to log onto the sprint website and create a "My Content Manager" for your vision package. Remember back in the day when you couldn't figure out how your brand new mogul could surf full web pages but you couldn't get onto sprints weak low fi vision site? This is also why. Do this, reinstall original sprintnav (to device) and then refollow the first post's directions. Make sure though that after you do this that when you go to start/programs (if you haven't already deleted secondary link to navigation) that you select the one that says "sprint nav" and not the one that says "telenav". And that should do it for ya. Let me know how it works for you. It got mine going but if you have any questions feel free to ask.

WOW....I don't know why you guys are having issue with pin errors...I never had any issue with that from the get go with this new cab so I can't even troubleshoot well for you guys in this instance...hopefully scott or dash can save the day because I have never had any issues...how bout u Jew?

you need to call sprint and get it added to your account.... it costs 10 dollars a month.

actually (not to contradict) i have the everything plan for $70 a month (before my borage of discounts) and sprint navigation is included along with sprint tv, unlimited text, unlimited internet usage and a few other package perks.

did that come with the plan or did they throw it in for you? because im not aware of any plan that does have the option of navigation included...... i get mine for free also but it was something that had to be added on a sprint reps side though.

To be perfectly honest with you I am not completely sure. Like I've stated before, I learned a long time ago what needs to be done and what it takes to wade through the sprint "customer service" that seem to be the equivelant to the 80 year old lady that didn't have anything better to do one day and decided to substitute in on a class and call herself a "teacher". I've worked myself in with quite a few free things and discounts (most of them deserved mind you) that I can't 100% say that I didn't work my way into a free package add-on.

I can confirm that if you get the everything family plan sprint nav is included...and if you read my post before I edited...I'm an idiot and its late so I posted some wrong info

Me too! I have the Simply Everything Plan ($99) and it comes w Sprint Nav included...never had to sweet talk anyone or anything....good thing too cause I suck at that!

Ok. here it is. If you've already tried my other fix for this issue posted in this thread, then you can try out the alternative that I've recently figured out. For some reason after doing this update it works for a while but after a hard reset or flash and if you happen to add it back to your programming via sprite backup or any other backup program, it find's your account through telenav instead of through sprint/telenav and cant find your "paid subscriber" info. I just hours ago flashed to a new rom with sprint telenav cooked into it and I was having the same issue as well, but when I tried the cooked in program after flashing it worked as though I had never had the issue at all. My recommendation is to completely uninstall (even the registry files - may want to use sktools or memmaid). then soft reset. Go to the sprint web site and make sure that you have the necessities that I mentioned before in the thread. reinstall the original sprint nav programming for your device without this threads update. Soft reset. Try out the program and see if it's working to its original potential and if so then try the fix out. You should be set. If this doesn't work for you, or even if it does then let us know.

I looked in sktools and in settings/remove programs and sprint nav or telenav do not show up as installed programs but they are installed on my phone. do you know what may be the reason i cant find them or where to find them so i can try to reinstall like you said?

That's wierd. Either it was cooked into your rom and made to not allow you to tamper with it, your reintegrated it after flashing to a new rom, or you had it installed to a storage card then flashed to a new rom and are running it from the storage card. Any of these hitting the mark??

Oh and most would tell you to use sktools but my preference leads me straight to MemMaid everytime.

hey guys, i am a sprint sales rep, and can confirm that if you have ANY NEWER data plan, its included. im not n a employee plan. i have 2 pros and a rant on my plan. 1500 minutes, text and internet for 129. all 3 phones get telanav for free. its right on the website as well as the brochures in the stores. the same as sprint tv, and nascar mobile, pandora. its all included with any newer bundled plan.

this is just the default telenav, it is basically the same as sprints but sprint makes theirs look a little different....you can get the telenav cab by following the directions here or you can search for sprint telenav and find the original cab on the site
