grainy vids

when i play vids, youtube or whatever they are really grainy looking on my screen??? is there anything that I can do about that.....settings, an app? thought I would ask maybe its jus the QVGA and not having the VGA???

it could be the qvga and do you have any screenshots of what you are talking about so we can see how grainy that you are talking.

I was wachting vids last nite just fine on youtube, I've got the screenshots app, and was going to get a screenshot of the grainy YT vid, but now when I've got that screenshot app running waiting on me to press camera to take the shot, I try opening Youtube and it says "there is not enough free storage space to run youtube. minimum free storage space required is 8MB" which I don't understand b/c I have over 90 megs free in storage and 27 megs in program FREE????

AND Jew I'm using the coreplayer to watch regular vids.

also there's an app that came with my ROM, "task manager", which shows ALL KINDS of stuff running, but when I go to the regular system task manager there's nothing there???? I don't know what all this stuff is running to close it, worried it will mess up my phone???? could that have something to do with it?

go to preferences/video and change from qtv to raw frame buffer for your videos and you are set. and preferences/channels (i think) to set the quality of streaming videos

thats the first thing i do lol

thanks Mike, I can't find the "preference/channel" thing tho to set the quality of streaming vids????? not sure what that is? but my regular vids seem to play pretty good quality it's the youtube vids that are grainey???

and now today as I said before, I can't get my Youtube to play, gettig the "not enough memory space available, needs 8 megs" error??? I've got plenty of megs left in programs and storage??? don't know what the deal is with this???? it was fine last nite, and I hard reset yesterday and didn't install hardly anything............????

press the left soft key, go to ''options'', ''preferences'' and in the left soft key you will get an option called ''select page'' and go to the ''video'' and ''channels'' page and edit the settings.

Ok I've been in there also, the only "select page" options I have are ....

general/player/equalizer/colors/hot keys/file assoc/buffering/advanced/direct draw

and in none of those do I see anything about "channels" or "streaming video"????

sorry, but I'm lost..............and any ideas why my youtube app won't play or even open up now???? "not enough memory" error code?????

agnie, it seems like you have too many things installed... why have the youtube app and coreplayer installed. You should use one or the other.

what version of coreplayer do you have?? maybe you have a older version cuz its supposed to have those options

version 1.3 is what i use

ok my cp version is .72 or something and i havent installed anything except pcm keybrd s2u app and sk tools ? also the youtube is a stand alone app and cp is too? they both came preinstalled on the touch Dette ROM that i flashed to? so im still at a loss of why my youtube app wont even open?

how would i update my coreplayer? just install it? will it overwrite the original?

if its built into the rom, i dont think it will overwrite automatically upon install, actually, they may even conflict with each other, in order to overwrite, youll have to take the core folder (after u install) and put them into the approrpriate windows folders using total commander or rescue explorer and the like... Not sure which windows folders as I havent had a chance to check the detter rom out.... you may want to ask in his rom threadd....

Also, the touch is fairly good on memory (especially if you just hard reset), it sounds like it may be a problem w/ your youtube app... as a work around I suggest using something like skyfire, which will play and stream your vid pretty flawlessly, on the touch, and forget the youtube player for now...
Since you just said that your coreplayer is working fine, you can use thaat for all your saved vids and such...

I mean it just seems like one thing after another with this phone? first the GPS, still not working, then I hardreset to see if it would "clear up" the issues I'm having, but NOPE!!

and that sounds complicated with the coreplayer installing and overwriting thing? I don't know if I could do that?

If I were to install the Skyfire, I could watch youtube from that? Cuz the youtube was preinstalled like a standalone application or something? I don't know, it's a shortcut on my Internet tab. when I click on it it opens up youtube, and not like in a browser type format, just youtube alone?

I don't know but ever since I got this touch last week, I've been trying to get the tweaks worked out and the problems, but doesn't seem to be working out at all!!!

i feel you angie... im sorry your havein such issues, Have you try flashion a clean rom? maybe w/ more space and mem it will start to function right?... but more n more, im startin to think you may have a defectrive model, take it back to all tel tell them all the issues youve been havin since getting it, and have them replace it..

shes on the dette rom with touchflo 2d so there is plenty of space and it is one of the best ones out there atm.

ok so I installed the latest version of Skyfire to see if it would play youtube and it does, however when I go to the "mobile view" it won't play the vids, and when in regular PC view you can zoom and all that, when I click play the vid, it's like I can barely see the video? how do you get it to play full screen on your phone, the button you press to do that if you are on a pc doesn't work? OMG?

well it wont really play fill scree, best ive gotten it to do on my touch was zoom in till its like 2/3rds the size of the screen(any bigger and it get too big for the screen...lol... try it in landscape mode), that is usually good enuff for me...

Off topic question*... regardin ur gps issues, is the "Location on" option enable on your gps stteings?

re: GPS, when I go into "maps" and click on My Location, it always gives me this yellow pop up box that says "my device is not capable for My location" or something like that? and I can't find the settings for "my location" anywhere else on the touch?

and the youtube thing, that's why I'm saying I would like to have that youtube app thing fixed to play b/c I was using it jus fine last nite and it plays "full scren" landscape and all!!! omg!! I mean there's more and more functions that I'm not able to utilize on this phone, nice phone for just a phone I guess, but having any luck with any of the extras and smartphone stuff. aside from making/receiving calls, SMS, email............that's it!!! opera internet seems to work pretty goood, no GPS, no youtube (except if you where magnifying googles while watching it), just getting aggravated!!!!

hmm... re: gps, if you go into start menu> settings> phone> Services(tab) > location setting (in scroll down list) and click setting... itll bring you to a page that tells you if your gps 'location on' is enabled or not...

YES, I know how tabs are, but when you go to start>settings>phone.....

there's NO TABS, under the phone icon? start>settings I have tabs there "personal/system/connections" that's it????

huh very odd..... have you tried the new rom for the touch with footprints yet..... maby you will have better luck with that one....... no clue on what could be causing the troubles..... never had the gps or the other errors your getting with mine...

ummm, no don't have a clue which ROM you are talking about, I could try that, I think the BF could do the flash for me this time, is it listed here under ROM RELEASE? IF SO, do you know the name or anything to lead me to it? I can try that, and if that fails, then I'm going to flash back to the stock rom (which is hopefully also posted here), and take the phone back to alltel!!!!!
