To TP or not to TP

Those of you who have switched from Mogul to the TP I would like your opinion on the switch. My local Sprint store is offering me a TP for free (probably because they want me out of their hair about replacements) to swap out my Mogul.
Maybe I'm a little afraid of change, comforable with modding the Mogul, or love the bigger screen. But I'm not sure if I should make this switch?
I was kinda hoping for the TouchHD to be released and get them for that but it doesn't look like that will happen in the near future. Should I make the switch to the TP? Any advise would be appreciated Is the TP device more stable? Do we have the internet sharing fix (via usb) dialed in? Any pro's and con's would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

one more thing. Is the battery life comprable to mogul's (I need my battery the most when playing MP3's via bluetooth).

I understand where you are coming from but let me tell you that once you have the pro in your hands for a couple of days you will say "mogul what?" The touch pro is leaps and bounds better than the mogul and you should definitely make the switch. The touch pro has more memory, a better processor, and is just plain sleeker and sexier. The internet sharing fix here at Wckediden works. The battery life is about the same as the stock mogul but with a custom rom or reg tweaks you can extend the battery life. Plus the TP has touchflo3d and if thats not your cup of tea then most of the apps for the mogul also have vga versions so you can use them on the TP, So I would definitely make the switch

SWITCH, TAKE IT, TAKE IT!!!! everyone on here is switching their moguls for TP's for free, b/c of the issues they are having with the moguls!!! I have a mogul and yea I understand the "being comfortable" with your device after spending hours learning how to tweak it the way you want. But as stated before, you will forget all about the mogul after a few days based on the reasons listed above!!! you are very lucky to be with Sprint and that they are offering to do that, me, I'm with Alltel and they wouldn't budge on switching out for the pro (keyboard for keyboard, comparable you know), they are sending me the touch, which I'm scared as hell I will not like, based on the NO KEYBOARD! but I settled.................PLEASE SWITCH! :connie_mykilroy:

i just switched my mogul to the touch pro. i've only been using it for a day but there's a few things i miss from the mogul. here are a couple of things i noticed:

1. there's no more "ok" shortcut button - not even on the keyboard
2. shortcut for the text application is not in the front, you have to slide the keyboard open
3. internet - no shortcut button
4. mogul shows the task application in the today screen and i can't get the touch pro to show it.
5. when i get new texts, the whole text shows up on the home screen. i will definitely get in trouble when someone sees the texts that i receive..
6. same with pictures, just scroll through the home page and everything is there for anyone to see.
7. i don't like the glass covering the camera and the flash sticking out. very easily damaged.
8. when using the keyboard, there's no keyboard button for the lower right and lower left option. and the "ok" as well..

things that i definitely like:
1. the responsiveness of the keyboard and applications. definitely more responsive.
2. camera is 3.2 mega pixel
3. color is great

like i said, maybe i just haven't figured out how to use my touch pro yet but this is what i've experienced so far. some people might like all the texts showing or all of the pictures but i'm more of a low key type of guy.. some things on my phone i like to be hidden..

I too went from mogul to tp. One thing I really miss is the wheel on the mogul. Thant made scrolling up or down with one hand simple

1. you can use aebutton to make an ok button or change the existing buttons to whatever of your choosing.
2. text is right on touchflo 3-d on the tabs...
3. just shortcut it to one of the hatrd keys like press and hold on the call begain button.
4. you can display it you just cant use any other plugins with touchflo..... you can use second today to solve that or add it to the programs tab on touchflo
5. once again disable touchflo
6. once again disable touchflo
7. what are you talking about the plastic protects the camera and the flash.

been using my Touch Pro for a week, $50 replacement when my mogul was lost (guess the insurance company couldn't fill the replacement order with a mogul in a sufficient amount of time... works for me!)

I must say, the second i started using the touch pro, i fell in love... the interface was sleek and easy to use... I'm very computer savvy, i own a repair business, but this phone, as powerful as it is, is very user friendly...

the main applications are presented in an easy-to-follow menu, and the customization options are endless... the VGA screen is vibrant and much more details... I can read myspace pages without zooming in...

the battery life on this stock is better than that of my mogul... it still has GPS and all the other fancy stuff that made me cling to my mobile like it was my last thread to life, but man o man... good luck prying this out of my cold dead fingers, even my corpse will be happy with this thing.

the keyboard is kind of "stiff" for some people, but others will appreciate what could be called "tactile feedback" ... it's definitely a full qwerty keyboard, and though it takes some getting used to for the re-arranged shift-states (like ?, ", ',) etc, it's worth it...

I haven't added very many 3rd party apps yet, but i have a naked blonde as my home screen that goes perfect with sprints home-screen touchflo interface button...

the few mods i do have so far is a clock that looks like the one sprint put on by default, but without the background... Skyfire... and Windows RDM 6.1 for remote desktop...

the accelerometer (gravity-sensor) works wonders, and i'm planning on getting one of the several apps that makes it work with other programs...

built in youtube playback is slick, plays full screen and doesn't allow the screen to dim when you're watching... also, the volume on this thing is louder than the mogul, probably because the placement and orientation of the speaker for the speakerphone / music playback is way better than it was for the mogul...

the GPS in my phone is trouble-free also... I used it for navigation the other day, checking for this "delay" that some people describe, but i didn't experience it at all... I've used the GPS several times without problems, so maybe I'm lucky ?

contacts are so much easier to go through, and i thank God this phone comes with an IM application for MSN, AIM, and Yahoo...

Also, the pictures you get for picture mail download into the phone, rather than providing you with a link that makes you access the web to see the photo... (dunno if that was because of my mogul's initial issues i had with activation, or because of the ROM, or just the phone itself), but the touch pro really is leaps and bounds above and beyond the mogul...

it's fast from the start, there's less than a 10ms delay when entering a phone number, unlike the mogul's 0.5-2 second delay when dialing a number, not to mention contact navigation is soooo easy with touch flo, just flick and find... or you can just go down the list alphabetically by sliding your finger along the side...

i can't wait to start putting more advanced applications on my phone, but most of the application mods I was putting on my mogul were used to give me features that this phone already came with! Youtube capability, ContactCM, "TouchFLO", Instant messaing for my 3 favorite IM services, all i need is access to redtube and i'd be set!

actually, i already tested redtube... works like a charm :D

If you have any questions about the phone, don't hesitate to ask... I've yet to find a reason to go back to my mogul and i'm currently trying to find a buyer for it. heh

PS - the reason I quoted that thing about the scroll wheel above is because my mogul was constantly "flipping" through whatever it wanted... the stupid wheel's functionality had a tendency to go haywire and start randomly clicking throug crap and i had to "flip" it up or down to get it to stop... really irritating in the middle of something important though...

i have always used finger scrolling through touchflo to scroll through my files. much faster than the wheel, and just jump the scroll bar to the bottom if i want to get to the end quickly

Use diamond tweak and you can enable the touch sensitive wheel to scroll through like the side wheel on the mogul

you shoulda argued w/alltel more. i have them too and after going through three p.o.s re-manufactured exchange by mail phone they finally got tired of me arguing with them for a new phone and did an even swap for a new touch pro. technically they have to give you the equivelant of what you had, you gave up too easy dude. shoulda stuck to your guns more.

so far, it seems pretty cool and quite a bit faster than my 6800 (mogul) was. most of the stuff i modded my 6800 with comes stock on the touch pro so all in all i'm pretty happy with it so far. the keyboard takes some getting used to along with how it's kinda shiny, but thats minor to get used to in order to have a more reliable phone.
