I know it says I have the HTC PRO (not yet...I just wanted to see what I am able to "do" with the phone (its between the pro and the storm).

this may sound really stupid, but I see the word ROM alot when it comes to making your phone custom.

What is it? and what is it for?

i suggest you taking a look at the noob section in my sig for all te basic info

but in short, a rom is the systems OS (operating system) its the software that runsyour device. Think of it like the engine of your car. you want a better performing, more promising one (custom) not a sluggish, buggy one (stock)
