Removong words from Xt9 database
 

I have an HTC touch and after using several keypads the best is still the standard HTC touch keyboard with two letters on each button.

I use the predictive text and the most F*%king stupid words come up..... "iys" for its is an example, or TgE for "the" is another . There are countless others but I wont list them all.

I have done alot of reading about deleting regisrty values and such, but does any one know a way of accesiing the files and removing the dumb words? I have tried clearing stored entries and soft reseting but they are still there in all their annoying glory......

ok what rom are you on? stock or custom? and go to start/settings/personal/input and turn off word prediction. than also on your keyboard you will see a toggle switch by the keyboard that says xt9 and abc.... make sure it is on abc and that should stop coming up for ya. first thing that i always do on every custom rom and after every hard reset.

Dash thnx for the reply. Unfortunately I like the xt9 method but it just has these f'd up words in the dictionary. I use the xt9 the most out of all the keypads/keyboards. I hate the "abc" feature and was wondering if you can customize the xt9 words? Like "tge" for *the* What words start with tge? Or everytime i enter *it's* it comes up as "iys"

I am on a custom ROM and have tried virtually all the keyboards out there........ (swcked is definately the best but keys are to small in portrait view) Any other suggestions?

Sorry for posting links <---- BUT here's something for touch HD users. I haven't found - \windows\ET9MyWords.exe - on the phone so not sure its the same as the touch HD. But hey if it helps you gain some sanity then great. The link is below.
