Sprint Internet Sharing Fix! Works 100%-Now simple cab install! UPDATED 8/9/08!
 

Alright. Tutorial Deleted. People are having issues getting it to work so I figure it's not worth trying.

Instead, I have made you all a CAB file that will do it ALL for you. I tested it and it DOES work. ICS will no longer disconnect itself after a period of time and it will work time and time again without fail.


Installing the cab file will:
Perform Internet Sharing hack
KILL Phone as Modem connection
Make all internet using apps(including ICS) use Sprint PCS instead of PAM

noob question, would i still need to do the reg edit or is it good to go after soft reset??

and another would this be better than the wmwifi and pdanet??

i dont use and after registry edit soft reset than go in and make sure they stick and you will be fine.

Got a couple of quick question?

Do I press the internet sharing button?

Will my PC with N1 usb adapter find it? I do have Sprint unlimited Internet.

One more question?

Do you think you can do that great Vista theme as .cab as well or some sort of a rom?

just hook up go to the internet sharing and tether her up.

and no i cant do that in a cab because it needs to apps to work and than the graphics so that makes multiple cabs which shouldnt be cabbed up.

My mogul says it's working. If you woulnd't mind telling me how to tother it, so that I can use it. I got vista ultimate and the network sharing center doesn't see my cell.

Is it something to do with the ad hock I was trying to do it, but no success.

I would also like to mess around and bluetooth everything to my computer if it's capable to do it? Or is it better to have just docked and connected via usb.

yea sprintpcs is the way to go. Sprint will charge you for phone as modem, its some stupid way for them to make more money off of you. But with sprintpcs its just like your using your phone to surf the web. Freakin sweet.

Ok, I never had an issue with tethering my mogul to my pc while using dcd roms, but I did have to bridge connections pc side to get tethering to work. Before 6.1 I used wmodem, no bridging required, and winxp ICS worked PC side.
But now since 6.1, I've had winxp ICS issues on the PC side with my lan. Am I just configured wrong or will this not allow pc side lan sharing?

Confuse anyone yet?

well the dcd rom is different because this registry change was built into the rom....

Hi,

I installed the internet sharing fix and it connects on the phone. Is there anything I have to do on the computer side to make it work. It doen't seem to be allowing me to connect to the internet. Will it work on a laptop and desktop or just laptop.

How does it work on your computer. I loaded internet sharing fix and the phone shows connecting to the internet, but not the computer. Do I have to change any setting on the computer to make it work. also can you use it on a desktop and a laptop or just a laptop.

Hi Dash,

Sorry to post this question so many times, but I saw you were online and you are always so helpful. I installed the internet sharing fix and it does shos as connected on my phone. is there anything else I have to do on the computer side to make it work. It doesn't seem to be working by just hooking up the usb cable.

Also someone asked in another forum about the tflotouch saying that is was already loaded. All they have to do is remove one of them from the start menu. thanks

bro simmer down i may be online but at wok or busy doing something different.... i will get to your questions when i get to them...... and you should connect but now you can definately use pdanet or something similar to get yourself the connection.

Does the computer that the usb cable from my mogul automatically recognize the phone as an internet server or do you have to load something on the computer or set up any proxy to recognize the sprint sharing.

no it will auto recognize.... you just have to go to internet sharing....

I just try it in my new TREO 800W and it worked using the USB cable.

Does anyone know if I can use my phone as a Router?

oh my damn... this is awesome... just what i was looking for after i gave up looking for it. Its definaly a lifesaver for me as i have diffuclt time gettin things done at my girlz house b/c she has... *uuggnhh*... dialup. So now ill be able to spend more time there while gettings done... and not have to deal w/ the whinning that im always working at home... not to mention that i refuse to give sprint anymore money for services that shouldve already been provided to me. So after reading all the threads here, I am still confused. After installing the cab do I still need to get something else like pdanet in order for it to work? And when connecting it to my desktop/laptop all I need is a usb? After that, do I need to open internet on my phone for the computer to detect the server from my phone? Will this work like a modern for my computer? will this give me slower services or will the speed be the same as my phone?

I tried installing pdanet and some other one before and i could not get it to work so I just gave up, but since this cab sound promising, I think I am gonna give it a try again.

Just run the cab and you are good to go. Then you just hook up your usb to your phone and pc (tether) and start the internet sharing app in your programs, and then hit connect. That's it. your pc will automatically recognize the phone at that point as an internet source. Speeds are the same as on just the phone by itself.

hey dash, i decided to try and keep the diamond [ pro's are out of stock :( ]. soo i tried installing this internet sharing cab to tether w/ diamond on my unlimited vision and now i cant even connect! its greyed out. is there a way to hack into internet sharing on the diamond? I think I saw that Juicy ROM you posted but..i like the sprint stuff on my phone.

is there another cabbed up version of this hack for the diamond? or u think i should try your "Touch Pro Essentials" thread hacks? i would think it should relatively work for the diamond.

the TP version should work without troubles on your diamond.... or you can flash to the juicy version and it is prebuilt in already.

I love the thought of this app/hack, but I am having issues. I installed the .cab and soft reset. I connect my Mogul to my PC and run the internet sharing app. My PC goes nuts trying to install driver software (I havent installed activesync on it) and my phone tells me to check the usb connection. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

well the drivers are needed for it to run otherwise it wont recognize the device....... and on top of that you will need activesync on your computer to work if not mistaking unless you have the diamond or the pro.

Yeah I changed the forcecellconnection value to Sprint, thx dude... and yeah I might- might try that juicy rom. this battery life on stock is killing me. i might go look for some hacks to help battery power b4 i flash though, idk.
