THanks for the great app, looks like it could have some real potential. I installed it, but the serial comes up as "wrong serial number". Is there anything you can recommend?

Re: SPB Pocket Plus 4

looking at the video it says it only uses 1.4mb of RAM...does anyone know how much Ram HTC Home uses? or ultimate launcher?

zumi78878 05-31-2008 02:42 PM

Re: SPB Pocket Plus 4

well......this is like an add-on for the phone... so it has nothing to do with how much ram htc home or ultimate uses. when you open this.. it uses 1.4mb of ram.. and that is like nothing.

I was just wondering if HTC Home or Ultimate Launchers use more (I have both) I would uninstall those and just use this. That way I could have more ram to run apps. :)

Re: SPB Pocket Plus 4

ohh...well...Swcked Pocket Plus 4 uses less ram than those 2 :) as said in the video, this uses the least ram out of all the apps so this is the BEST choise! :D

i'm using this after upgrading from the previous version yesterday, i only use a couple features of it, mainly the IE xtras, Smart Scrolling & Safe Mode.. i have no need to use the other features as they are redundant on my mogul.

i like it well enuff, the safe mode has been a life saver a few times in the past ;D

smart scrolling is something IE should do anyway by default imo, so this is a nice feature & ofc tabs are nice.

I liked this app mostly when i was running a stock ROM. Now that i have touch flow builtin i dont need the smart scrooling feature. i use mobile shell instead of pocket plus now on Kaos take 2 ROM. Only things i do miss was the new tab feature in IE (so you can switch IE windows) and Safe Mode bootup! But all in all this app is VERY good!

As DASH explained earlier, you can use Swcked Mobile Shell and Pocket Plus together without any software conflict that would cause your phone to crash or something like that. The confusing part about having them both is that they both seem to have a lot of the same functionality, and tend to create a mess out of your Today screen if you don't spend the time going into the settings and making things look better. I haven't had a chance to fully dive myself into these programs because I just installed and, being physically disabled, I haven't find a friend who has enough time to help me figure out all the little options I have with these programs.

One thing you should know after installing Swcked Mobile Shell is that you will not see the familiar Task Manager Button that is typically located at the upper right corner of the screen. This makes it difficult to close programs that you have started, which can be a bad thing if the running program is draining your battery, as has been the case with me lately.

I installed Pocket Plus because it supposedly allows you to close applications by simply clicking on the X associated with that program. My question is whether this feature automatically takes place once you install Pocket Plus or if you have to go into the settings and activate it. Does anybody know?

Typically, when you close a program, you have to click and hold down the X at the upper right corner of the application for it to close. Simply clicking on the X will only minimize the program. Pocket Plus is suppose to have the opposite affect; that is, a simple click on the X will close the program, while pressing the X down for a couple of seconds will produce a drop down menu that allows you to switch between applications or close multiple applications at a time. To anyone reading this who already has experience with these products, please let me know if I am correct about my understanding of these products.

the task manager included with your mogul has options to hold x or tap x to close programs.. first set that up to your liking. this has nothing to do with pocket plus & i recommend unchecking the support for pocket plus x button... its redundant.

but yes there are settings for the x button in pocket plus, but again un-needed if you are using the htc task manager that comes default with your mogul.

hope this info helps

The information that you provided really helped me a lot. It was a little difficult finding the option because when I click the settings button through the Mobile Shell application, I am presented nine different icons that each correspond to a different part of my phone that involve settings. For example, there is an option for Mobile Shell, Today, Personal, etc., and going into each one produces a list of options with little tabs in the bottom that lead to more options. I found the option you were talking about under the settings/system/task manager, and then click the tab at the bottom that is called buttons.

As far as Pocket Plus, I don't think I have been able to find the settings for this add-on, but I will check.

go under the same area (settings/system/pocket plus) to find the settings for this application.

i assume thats personal preference.. do you want mobile shell on your phone? if not remove it...

at times i have both installed, other times just pocket plus for the smart scrolling & safe mode feats. mobile shell is a kewl interface, not sure any of us can answer your question for you..

oh i just realized maybe you are talking abut the today plugins for each app... the best trick i figured out when wanting one (or both) of these today plugins was to have mobile shell as the only one selected for the today plugin & then add a tab to the mobile shell & set it to pocket plus. this way you get the best of both today plugins if thats what you are looking for..

personally i like mobile shell for the NOW screens. i never have either one of these apps on my today screen, i use ultimate launch & add a gesture possibly for now screen launch.

If it's not too mucus of a bother, would you mind describing what you've placed on your Now screen? I haven't changed the layout of the Now screen that comes with Mobile Shell because I think it works fine for me, but I do wish I could change the background to a picture of my own choosing.

the now screen only has two default themes..you can find a bunch of mobile shell themes by googling for the version you have installed (2.0 2.1 etc..)

i've never experimented with the background of the now screen.. sorry

xda forums have alot of information also...

I just want to be clear about a few things regarding the installation of this program:

QUESTION #1: When entering the serial number quoted above, do you include or omit the dashes?

I will be installing as follows:

1) Connect my phone to the computer using ActiveSync.
2) Through my computer, create a temporary directory on my phone's storage card and transfer (upload) the .CAB file of Pocket Plus 4 that I downloaded and place it in the temporary folder.
3) Unplug my phone from the computer to end my ActiveSync connection.
4) On the phone, use File Manager and navigate to the temporary folder on your storage card that has the Pocket Plus 4 .cAB file. Double-click or whatever to begin the installation.
5) During the installation, if the option to install program to storage card exists, I'll say yes!
6) Look through every Pocket Plus icon and menu until I see something about Register. Click this and type in serial number.
7) Turn phone off and on to make sure everything about Pocket Plus 4 works.

That's it, right?

I successfully installed the application and registered it without problems. I included the dashes and that worked. I had difficulty trying to find the application itself, though. It was burried within the Settings/System folder.

Now, my whole point in installing this application was so that my appointments would show up right above my calendar. I still cant seem to find the place to do this. I am getting a little confused because I have Windows Live and MSN mail in my device, which seems redundant. I think I am just having problems figuring out how to sync the information I have on my MSN account with my device. Microsoft has made a mess when it comes to differentiating between MSN, Windows Live, and Hotmail. I mean, which one am I supposed to use?
