Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009
GARMIN CITY NAVIGATOR NORTH AMERICA NT 2009
Ok folks. This is the newest mapset for the Garmin Mobile XT that can be found in this thread https://www.wckediden.com/showthread...ghlight=garmin You will also need the Garmin KeyGen to unlock the maps for your unit, and also to make your unit work with MapSource if this is your first time. These maps are a little more detailed than the 2008 version, and also have the ability to import traffic with your data connection. Everything you need to make the maps work is below including the installation instructions. ***********Instructions to install*********** I tried to make this as noob proof as possible. Sorry if it seems over deatiled to some. 1.Download all 5 .RAR files and the keygen. 2.Combine the 5 .RAR files and then unzip the resulting file and you will end up with Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2009 Update.iso 3.Mount or Burn the .ISO ( I used Power ISO and it worked like a charm) 4.Cancel out of the AutoRun 5.Navigate to DVD:\Windows\CNNANT2009Update_ENU.msi and double click the file 6.After the installation connect your PPC using active sync 7.Open MapSource and click utilities>getunitid 8.Launch the KeyGen and input the unit ID 9.Skip down to the bottom and select <custom mapset> as your Map Product and then enter 325 in the resulting box. 10.Click Generate from the bottom right button 11.Go back to MapSource and click Utilities>unlock map and check the "Yes, I have a 25-character unlock code." 12.Enter the 25 character unlock code that the KeyGen gave you. 13.You now have access to your new maps. Highlight the area you wish to transfer to you ppc using the map tool (it looks like a spuare pac-man) and then click transfer>send to device. *****FILES******* I used Mega Upload because the size of the files. About 2.2 Gigs worth when combined. Part 1 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=N3HWIT3W Part 2 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XF9HU5HD Part 3 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Z0UXW9U8 Part 4 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SV1FZSZ3 Part 5 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=EJOLH7RL KeyGen http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IXUH86VW If you prefer Torrent you can get the .ISO in regular and compressed form and the KeyGen here http://thepiratebay.org/user/damon1974 EDITED BY KAOS as promised Code:
http://rapidshare.com/users/IPCBY7Instructions to update stand alone Garmin GPS Devices thanks to mwiener1 Here are the steps I used 1. download all 5 rar files and keygen 2. combined using 7-zip (winrar would work too) 3. that gave me Garmin Mapsource City Navigator North America NT 2009 Update as a zip folder - unzip that to a folder on your desktop 4. from that folder run Garmin Mapsource City Navigator North America NT 2009 Update\Windows\Msi\CNNANT2009Update_ENU 5. from the nuvi (before you synch it) select settings\system\about and write down the Unit ID 6. Launch the KeyGen and input the unit ID 7. Skip to the bottom and select <custom mapset> and then enter 325 in the box 8. click generate on the bottom right and write down the 'unlock code' 9. Synch your GPS device to the computer 10. Step 4 should've put a map install icon on your desktop (open that) otherwise if you used the default install location you can find it in C:\Garmin (open MapInstall) 11. MapInstall will find your device - either select your device or the removable card location 12. Unlock your maps using the KeyGen provided <if you cannot unlock your maps - while MapInstall is running in the task bar right click on it and select "unlock maps" select "add" and enter the unlock code from the keygen 13. Click on the maps you want to install - goes by state - highlight the maps you want and click next - then finish 14. disconnect your gps device and go to settings\map\map info and check the box of the maps you wish to use Hope it works for you... |
Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009

Second point, i ran NON-NT maps on my garmin mobile XT4.20.30. If i am not mistaken(If i am, getting glasses tommorow), these are NT maps. Will they work with the build i am using at the moment? Thanks |

Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009
Im already all over it...Far as i can tell nt stands for new technology...and is suppose to be better compressed.....So it may work...I'm going about it the torrent way...spent a hr tracking down numerous trackers...so ill have it in less then 20 hrs....which is good ill be gone tonight with the misses....so when i get home tomorrow ill be attempting to throw them on my mogul...if all works with no problem...ill upload to rapidshare...or the ftp here...

I tried to copy only my state (province) that i live in which is quebec and it worked, but mapsource told me to deleted all maps prior to loading this one. Dont know if this help.... but i am pretty damn sure i updated something, i'm gonna try to look and see if i can find which version of which maps i have. EDIT: Ok i am defenitly running the 2009 nt maps which i took from this torrent http://thepiratebay.org/tor/4118201/...te_(Compressed) |
Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009

Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009
Sorry guys, i was out of town all weekend. Yes they work, I used them on the road this weekend. The biggest difference between the two, is that the NT maps will load traffic. In my area they are much more detailed and have almost twice the ammount of databased destinations. I used MegaUpload because the files were 500megs a piece, and with my upload speed I couldn't manage the 20plus files that rapidshare would have taken.

Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009
off subject but does anyone know how to use that torrent/iso to update an actual garmin gps...I'm trying to do so but I'm getting nowhere.
|
Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009
Should be about the same process, does your unit interface with your computer through USB? Did you use mapsource to load the maps that you arecurrently using?
|
Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009
on a lighter note....rapid links are started going up right now.....
|
Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009

Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009
After I click on the part 1 it combines the files but not into an .iso file but a .zip file. which reads Garmin Mapsource City Navigator North America NT 2009 Update.zip..
Can I mount this with poweriso or can i only mount .iso files? |
Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009
Quote:
on the other hand, if you see an iso in the zip, then you will need an application like poweriso to mount the image. |
Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009
Ok after i mounted it with power.iso ...I do the instruction number 5
5.Navigate to DVD:\Windows\CNNANT2009Update_ENU.msi and double click the file But then once it starts installing, i get an error that says "Source file not found" Disk1.cab But i can clearly see it in the folder, what can i do? |
Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009
Power ISO will let you open an ISO file without mounting it. It sounds like that is what you have done. Right click the file and mount it to a physical location. (ie D: F: G:) Once you have done that, click the My Computer Icon on your desktop or in your start menu select the drive you have created and Navigate to the .msi file. Let me know if you stll don't get it.

Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009
I did exactly what you said..but i got the same error..Ive been trying everything for the past 3 days and still nothing lol..i want to thank you though for helping..but i just cant figure it out.. is there any way you could post maps in a .cab file or something that i could just copy into the registry of the program?

I noticed in a post earlier you talked about ending up with a .zip file after you combined the RAR's Did you physically extract the ISO from the ZIP? If not extract it to your desktop, or to a folder and try mounting it again. It my not mount correctly from inside a ZIP folder. Also are able to see the .iso as a drive when you look in "My Computer"? The first time i tried to install this I just opened the .iso with Power ISO and the installer is smart enough to know that the file is not a DVD. So we use PowerISO to trick it, mounting it to a fake DVD. The other option would be to actually burn the .iso file to DVD and install from there. |
Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009
ok i guess i just figured out what im doing wrong... i am not seeing the file as an .iso file but a .zip file...
1. I downloaded all 5 files with winrar. 2. then from winrar i dragged each file and placed them on my desktop. 3. next, i created a new folder from the desktop and dragged each file into it. 4. i clicked the first file and then it created the Garmin folder but not as an .iso file but a .zip file.. I am guessing this is where i mess up. |
Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009
Now that this has come up, i did zip the file before breaking it up with winRAR to try and make it as small as possible.
Right click the .ZIP and extract the ISO from it. From there pick back up at step 3 |
Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009
How exactly do I extract the iso? should i drag the file out of winrar to the desktop then right click and use isopower? or what do i click if i right click the file while its still in winrar?

Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009
if anyone has the folder issue and cant figure out how to solve it, you can just take the contents of the "Garmin Mapsource City Navigator North America NT 2009 Update" (which is supposed to be the iso) folder and drag and drop them into PowerISO then save it as iso, then mount the ISO it takes a little longer but its easier to understand for the noobs out there :P

Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009

Re: Garmin City Navigator North America Nt 2009
i downloaded the 5 rar files. took all night. i than clicked on the part 1 extracted it to an specific folder on my desktop than i went to extract part 2 to the same folder like i had to do with the garmin maps program itself but it asked me to overwrite it so i assumed when i extracted part 1 it went ahead and extracted all the others ones by itself to the same folder. so i went to the folder i extracted it to and opended it up and it was an zip file that is "2,267,475 kb" big. i clicked on that to double open it and than i ended up with a "Garmin Mapsource City Navigator North America NT 2009 Update.zip" than i double clicked on that to open it and had these folders inside "IMG" , "support" , "windows" than "autorun.inf". ok still no ".iso" file!? nd never found an ".iso" file!?? but in the windows folder there is and "Selecting and saving map sets tutorial v4.00.exe" and there is an "setup.exe" so do i have to run these to get to the iso or should it have popped up by now or did i do something wrong. any help on this would be appreciated this iso stuff is new to me. i already have the poweriso installed 2. the newest version. so im kinda like all setup for those steps down the road i just got to get to them.
id be happy to provide a screenshot or screen shots if asked if you not sure whats going on just tell me what you would like a screen shot of. thanks. AL *edit* alright i think i might of got it but im not sure i went ahead and clicked on the setup.exe and it took forever to extract but finally did and a map update thing came up and gave me some steps to like do this and that than plug in ur garmin gps device through usb and make sure gps is on and i did that. my phone is plugged on and the gps signal strength is 3 green bars of 4 bars. but yet that setup doesnt recognize that its plugged in and the gps is connected and up and running to now i stuck on wat 2 do. thanks again. so you launched setup.exe you should have launched CNNANT2009Update_ENU.msi from the msi folder. Thats what i did anyway, worked fine. Other than the iso file i followed the instuctions that are posted. Actually wasnt that hard. |
