More evidence is piling up in favor of a conventional Galaxy S26 lineup (https://www.sammobile.com/news/are-galaxy-s26-pro-edge-still-coming/). There won't be a new Edge model, apparently, and Samsung hasn’t canceled the Galaxy S26+. That wasn’t always the plan, though. At one point, Samsung reportedly considered folding the canceled S26 Edge into the S26+.

According to a report from Korea, after Samsung scrapped the S26 Edge, the company briefly explored using the Edge model’s display (https://www.thelec.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=50820) for the S26+. That idea didn’t stick. Instead, the Galaxy S26+ is now expected to ship with a display that’s largely identical to the one on the Galaxy S25+.

At least, that’s what the rumors claim. The Galaxy S26+ is said to feature a 6.7-inch panel (6.66 inches, more precisely), which sounds nearly indistinguishable from its predecessor on paper.

The one possible change is the display coating or protective layer. Whether that ties into Samsung’s much-rumored Privacy Display tech (https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-s26-ultra-privacy-display-performs-well-real-life/) remains unclear. Most reports suggest the feature is exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, while one older rumor hinted (https://www.sammobile.com/news/samsung-galaxy-s26-privacy-display-not-limited-ultra/) at wider availability across the lineup.

In terms of the timeline, Samsung reportedly halted Galaxy S26 Edge development in October, while the Galaxy S26+ entered mass production just last month. That short turnaround could explain why the S26+ may end up looking so familiar. It may simply be a product of necessity rather than ambition.

As for production numbers, Samsung is reportedly planning to manufacture 700,000 Galaxy S26 units, 600,000 Galaxy S26+ units, and a massive 3.6 million Galaxy S26 Ultra units this January alone.
