Thats about right, when the TP first came out, it was around 600 or somethin if you bought it straight up with no contract.

yeap, it's still that price without contract to this date, but just like every phone, once you sign a NEW contract, they cut the price by half if not more.

The downside is that they get you coming or going either way.....
If you purchase the phone outright for $600, youre phone cost is $600? right? Butif you re-up on your contract its "only" $300.....Nope....Because they put in a percentage of the service plan cost to recover the "discount" for the phone with a 2 year contract. Even if there is 75% overhead cost on the Unlimited plan ($99.99) that leaves $25/month going toward recovering the cost of your phone. thats an additional $300/year ($600 over the life of the contract) taking the $300 phone up to $900. Even worse ifyou purchased the phone outright, you dont get a reduction in your service fee (still $99.99) with that same 75% overhead cost, leaving 25% going straight into Sprint's pocket as pure profit. That $600 phone now has cost you $1200 over the 2 year contract.
thats why I use the red-headed bastard step child carrier....At least i know that my phone cost what it cost to purchase and get flashed.....and my unlimited plan does not have nearly as much of a markup....
In the words of Dennis Miller......"...but thats just my opinion, I could be wrong"
