This doesnt seem like a very good combo. I just got my touch pro but have come to realize you need a Windows based PC to download alot of the apps. Can I download these directly on my phone's web browser?

yes, i think any .cab or .zip file can be downloaded onto your phone..however its very important to sync your data..unless you use some type of data back up application like PimBackUp...

Correct, and to sync data, look into oggsync. Seems to be the best option for PPC to MAC.

when you sync your data...you basically back up or SAVE all the important data on ur phone. such as contact list, appointments, and so on...its important to back up your data incase your phone ever needs to be hard reseted...that way if you perform a hart reset you can restore all ur important info... :)
by the way you do this by connecting your phone to ur pc using a usb cable...
