i am running one of the custom roms and was wandering is there a link available to download the messenger app like on the sprint rom or at least a yahoo mobile messenger?

Yes there is... just do a search, for OZ instant messanger, or yahoo mesenger, or the word messenger, or any other messenger you need/ want... the main thing is, for you to do a search!
