i have thhe mogul from alltel. i used to have the q9c. mogul is much better. my question is about using the phone as a wireless modem. i asked the guys at alltel when i had my q and they said it was an extra 30 or 40 bucks a month to get that. im wondering how they would know since it uses the same data connection as the phone uses right? or no? and if not is there a way for them not to know? :) thanks everyone.

If you have Alltel's data plan already you just connect the USB cord and run PDANET (search Wckediden for it). It works just fine.

yup pdanet 2.0 is great and so is wmwifirouter if you also want others to be able to connect.... my buddy runs wifi throughout his whole house for the roomates even right off of his phone and of course can still receive phone calls and all of that good stuff :>

I have Alltel and one rep said its no extra charge to tether and one said its $30.00 a month. I believe that the confusion comes it with there nationwide plan versus the regional plans. The regional plan has cheaper contract price and only offers limited data use for the $30/m charge. the nationwide plan has the same circle plans but has unlimited data use thru any Alltel, Sprint, and Verision towers anywhere anytime thru the phone or teather to a computer.
Alltel also allowed me to add a HTC Touch to my HTC 6800 nationwide plan for an additional $30.00 a month. The second phone shares the My Circle plans minutes but shares unlimited data with no restrictions for both phones anywhere anytime.
I have wifirouter but usally just teather to my laptop with htc's usb cable and the internet sharing program on the phone with no let down on speed, I normaly get 630-1240 kbs with this method.
