Does anybody know hot to disable the on screen keyboard from automatically popping open? For example when i go into my text messages, as soon as the screen loads it pops up the keyboard automatically. Sometimes I don't need the keyboard just want to read my messages. I appreciate any help, thanks

go to START then SETTINGS next go to INPUT and under input method you will see OPTIONS click on it and disable it from there:thumb:

I have the touch pro. I don't want to disable the keyboard I just want to keep it from popping up whenever I go into text messages or in a field to enter text. For example, when I tap on my messages either text or emails it opens my threaded messages and instantly the onscreen keyboard that I have selected, in my case the full qwerty, automatically opens. I just want to disable it from popping up on its own. Now the weird thing is that if I open text messages then use the slide out keyboard to type, then shut my slide out keyboard when i am done if i go back into text messages then the pop up doesnt happen seems as if the slideout bypassed it. Then if I once again just want to type something real quick onscreen with full qwerty by opening it myself, then next time I go into text messaging it triggers the auto popup again. Phewww now that i caught my breath hope this clarifies and thanks again everyone.

Found my answer. With advanced configuration tool there is an option to stop auto pop up of keyboard works great. There is also an option to set time of keyboard backlight but that does not work. Hope this helps.

Really advance configuration tool has that option?... i have that app but theres something wrong w/ it, I may have to re-dl just for that feature... i usually use null keyboard but its such a pain, because, when i have it enabled I forget then when i want the keyboard i click on the icon and nothing... so i have to be conscience of the icon and remember to reactivate my keyboard... it get the job done but can be annoying... thanks for the info!

Check this out, link removed no html links and most be coded, It seem to be a consequence of MS (SIP) architecture. I noticed it myself within Opera, but it seem to be happening with other S/W also..

I've had my TP for a year and have tried ever possible solution to this issue. Advanced config tweak doesn't work for me, editing the registry...nope. Null Keyboard.....works kinda, then it doesnt, then if you reset your phone, you need to do it again. Not a great solution overall. I'm out of ideas, anyone find something to truly disable the SIP keyboard pop-up?

Half the problem solved with Diamond Tweak, it no longer pops up on SMS but still opens in Opera, which is even more annoying. But thanks wcked, it helped for sure. I haven't used Diamond Tweak for awhile and forgot How useful it was.

then try this i haven't tried it yet.But download the Advanced Configuration Tool.Under "imput section" look for 'auto deploy SIP' and disable it. then do a software reset let me know if it works.I don't have that issue on the rom I'm on.

I've done that, my phone just seems to disregard it in Opera no matter what I do. I even removed all of the SIP keyboard options, hoping to leave only nullkb as the only option, However SK Tools didn't allow me to remove the full QWERTY keyboard, saying it is the default, when it really isn't. It could be a rom issue, but it has been there through many different roms. I use Merdins 6.5 btw.

Mine only does that in the opera or youtube screens. Anyone figure out how to make that stop yet? And where do I download Advanced Configuration Tool as mentioned earlier?

In the future, please use the search feature , located on the tool bar under the sites banner , in the top right hand corner of the screen.

for now here is the link:https://www.wckediden.com/showthread.php?t=178340&highlight=advanced+config+tool
