Setup

To use the Mogul's built-in GPS you must be running a ROM version of at least 3.16.651.0 with a radio ROM version of at least 3.27.00 (to find your ROM version go to the "Device Information" application found in Start->Settings->"System" tab).

Make sure that in the "External GPS" app (found in Start->Settings->"System" tab) matches the following settings:

Under the "Programs" tab, the "GPS program port:" is set to "COM4".
Under the "Hardware" tab, the "GPS hardware port:" is set to "None", and the "Baud rate:" is set to "4800".
Under the "Access" tab, the "Manage GPS automatically (recommended)" option is checked.


Make sure that your phone's location setting is set to "ON". You can do this by launching the "Phone" app (found in Start->Settings->"Personal" tab), then:

Under the "Services" tab, choose the "Location Setting" item in the listbox, and press the "Get Settings..." button.
Make sure the "Phone: Location Setting" is set to "ON"
OK everything, and soft reset your phone


for the mogul info havent tested yet but this is the specs to enable gps i will try soon and update

you have to have a gps enabled rom installed.A stock phone doesn't have it enabled.

search the forum for wm6.1 for touch. It should be in that.be aware this involved unlocking you phone.which voids warranty being these are custom roms.Also phone will be hard rest. loosing all data and programs.you would have to reinstall everything.If your uncomfortable doing so i suggest you wait for the official release.

you have to unzip the files to your pc and read the instruction inside the folder there is a step by step instructions and as far as the telnav what they are talking about is sprint offers a plan that telnav is included in the plan for free unlimited.

the maps are built in bro your not missing them... it will get your locteion via gps satellites in the sjt for the area that your from.

thanks for the reply but I still don't see the maps. My gmappsupp file is about 20mb. Does that sound right? I followed the install instructions from the readme file in the zip and had no errors during install. Sorry if I'm an idiot but I may be missing something in the install or configuration.

20 mb is alot of maps bro.... thats all of them. you will have to have it find your location and than tell it where you want to go .

Tyboy, I never got this working either. I too saw only the major highways. I could get detailed info in Africa, but when I typed Texas into the address bar it could find the state. I watched the video and d/l and installed multiple times. it worked for me in the aspect that I could see were i was, but there was no street level info other than major Highways. It is possile to grab the maps from a torrent site MiniNova or somewhere else. I gave up on this and just used Live Search instead.

bro it worked fine for me and a couple of my buddies. but for 1 of mt friends it didnt work. i think that it depends on your phones build date if this will work or not... if this doesnt work try tom tom or get sprintnav by telenav.

Theoretically it shouldnt matter if the phone is activaed correct? I had gone back to my treo until I got the rom issue all squared away now that I have that finished I want GPS to function correctly, but as of now the phone not activated, but since the gps doesnt use the phone portion ( i don't think) it should matter, right?

The GPS setup info help me get my TeleNav working, but i just downloaded this one to see the difference, from this one or the one in the membersection.

Both of them seem to be stuck and still trying to locate a bluetooth...? at the begining of the screen.

also whats the difference from the two the one on the members and this one.

How big is the file? Im really stoked for the post, since Im going to the beach next week and Id really like to try this out. I downloaded like 2 2gb map packs and they were for different countries and one said US maps but it was europe with a 10 mb us maps... I was like wtf haha... Once you install, use the appropriate registry entry for your operating system before you launch the program. Connect Mogul using activesync. Once connected, launch the program you installed (MapSource). Click on Utilities and get your Unit ID. You will need to use this with your keygen. Launch the Keygen. Enter your Unit ID in space provided and click generate to get your GM XT device unlock code. On same keygen screen, look for Select Map Product. Scroll down and select custom map set. A small window will open asking you to input the Map ID code. Enter 243 in this field. This will unlock the detailed maps for the US and I believe Canada. Scroll or pan around to where you want to have detailed maps. Once you select or highlight an area, hit the send to device button and you're good to go. If you have any questions or problems, I'll do what I can to help. I have tested and use this on my Mogul and it works flawlessly.

So All this well run threw garmin 6.0 or what ever?
Newb question I know... Im just not familiar with Nav programs.

If it doesn't does it save the maps you select as a image file so you can put it in garmin folder?

Followed his direction, more or less, and made it through! Gamen folder size is roughly 1.7Gigs because because I downloaded all US maps and surrounding Canada areas too.

It was a long time to transfer to the Mogul, but now I have everything! It all works flawlessly too!

It is unlimited and the keygen makes it free. I had to work a lot to get it working but if you follow will instruction in the thread, you'll manage to do it.

I am getting the same problems as some of the other ppl here..i can only see major highways but not the streets..and the megaupload account that has the maps has already been cancelled so i cant download the united states maps..can somebody post the maps or should i just download the newer version? thanks
